When Apple Plumbing, Heating & Air opened its doors in 1994, it was in the basement of our founders, Pat and Sue Scheper. With just two trucks and a big vision, they set out to build a plumbing company, one that Carroll County could always count on.
Three decades later, Apple embodies the American dream: a now 40-member team with 18 service trucks and a dedicated facility in Westminster, MD. While our size has changed, our commitment hasn’t. Apple Plumbing is still family-owned, locally operated, and deeply connected to the community we serve.
Supporting Local Events
Apple believes that being part of Carroll County means showing up where families gather. That’s why you’ll find us supporting events like:
Cascade Lights at Coppermine Cascade Park, a local holiday tradition that lights up the season. Each year, this family-friendly event transforms the park into a winter wonderland, complete with dazzling light displays and festive music. Visitors stroll through glowing paths, enjoy hot cocoa, and create cherished memories together. By supporting Cascade Lights, Apple helps keep this beloved tradition alive and accessible for families across the county.
Westminster FallFest. This is one of the county’s most anticipated community celebrations. The multi-day festival brings residents and visitors together with live entertainment, artisan vendors, carnival rides, and a parade through downtown Westminster. It’s an event that highlights the heart of the community and the local businesses that make it thrive. Our involvement helps ensure the festivities continue to be free and welcoming for everyone to enjoy.
Serving on Boards & in the Community
Our leadership team is grateful to homeowners across the Westminster area for trusting us with your homes. To give back, they’re heavily involved in initiatives that help shape Carroll County’s future.
Our founders set the tone. Pat Scheper has served for years on the Board of the Carroll County Youth Services Bureau and now holds the title of President Emeritus. Sue Scheper, before joining Apple full-time, spent a decade teaching kindergarten at St. John’s Catholic School, nurturing students and families who make up the heart of the community Apple proudly serves today.
Our team extends this commitment. Ben Scheper, Apple’s president, was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees for Carroll Community College. Since 2016, he has also served on the College Foundation Board, chaired the Starry Night Sponsor Committee, and supported countless nonprofit initiatives. Previously, Ben served as a Board Member and Treasurer for Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County.
Jeff Mason, Apple’s Plumbing GM, plays an active role with the local trade program at Carroll Community College, helping prepare the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
Community service is central to who we are. It’s how we stay connected to the people we serve and positively impact our community in ways that go beyond the physical structures of its homes and businesses.
