Frederick's Basement Flooding & Sump Pump Concerns
Water quality can vary throughout Frederick depending on whether your home uses municipal water or a private well. Hard water, iron, sediment, sulfur odors, and acidic water can affect how your water tastes, smells, and performs throughout your home.
Apple Plumbing, Heating & Air helps Frederick homeowners identify water quality problems and choose treatment equipment based on their actual water conditions. Our technicians will evaluate your plumbing, existing equipment, and water test results before recommending a solution.
Common Water Quality Problems in Frederick
Water quality problems don’t always look the same from one home to the next. The symptoms you notice can help point us toward the source, but testing is often needed to confirm what’s in your water.
Hard Water and Mineral Buildup
Hard water can leave white scale on faucets, spots on glassware, and buildup inside your water heater and appliances. You may also notice that soap doesn’t lather well or that your skin and hair feel dry after bathing.
Iron and Discolored Water
Iron can leave orange, red, or brown stains in sinks, tubs, toilets, and laundry. Your water may also have a metallic taste or turn darker after it sits.
Sulfur Odors
A rotten-egg smell may be caused by hydrogen sulfide, sulfur-related bacteria, or your water heater. The right treatment depends on whether the odor is present in hot water, cold water, or both.
Acidic Water
Low-pH water can corrode copper pipes, fixtures, and water heaters. Blue-green stains, metallic-tasting water, and recurring pinhole leaks may all point to an acidity problem.
Water Treatment Options for Your Home
The right treatment system depends on what’s causing the problem. One piece of equipment won’t correct every water quality issue, so we’ll recommend treatment based on your water test results and household needs.
Water Softeners
A water softener reduces the calcium and magnesium that cause hard water and mineral scale.
Iron and Sulfur Filters
Specialized filtration can reduce staining minerals and odors that a standard water softener may not fully address.
Acid Neutralizers
An acid neutralizer raises low pH and helps reduce corrosion inside your plumbing system.
Sediment and Carbon Filtration
Sediment filters capture sand, rust, and other particles, while carbon filters may improve certain tastes and odors.
Reverse Osmosis Systems
A reverse osmosis system can improve water used for drinking and cooking at a specific faucet.
Ultraviolet Treatment
A UV system may be used as part of a properly designed treatment setup to address certain microorganisms.

They are the best. The techs are great. Rick is extremely knowledgeable everyone is nice. The prices seem high but im sure other plumbing companies are the same. Excellent quality!Posted on Google Woodstock MaryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had 2 hot water tank(s) that worked together our home to deliver us 100 gallons of hot water, if we were ever to actually need that in our 4 bdrm, 3000 sq ft house. One tank recently failed. So, we began the process of getting estimates and advice on replacement tank(s). We are on a well, the tanks were propane fueled, and both 30 years old. Thirty years has seen a number of changes in hot water systems. Should we go with tankless? Or 1 new tank? 2 new tanks? Switch to electric? Many questions and options. We had four different highly rated plumbing companies come and look at our set up, explain the options, and give us their estimate. We knew that to bring the original system up to date would be a bear, as the old system and it's piping was odd and complicated. Apple Plumbing was the most professional, by far! They listened to our goals, and answered our many questions. Their cost estimate was very fair - and the contract proposal was thorough, spelling out everything involved for the replacement system. (One of the other plumbers wouldn't even give us an estimate for what we requested, but only for what he wanted to sell us). MICAH (lead plumber) and his team mate, MATT, showed up on time. They were efficient, knowledgeable, polite, respectful of property and tidy. They did a great job, and we are extremely pleased we went with Apple. Their warranty gives us peace of mind, too. I must add that their front office representative was very cheerful and helpful every time I called. Thank you, Micah, Matt and Apple Plumbing!Posted on Google Kristi RidgellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service! Very fast and efficient. Groundwater conditions can vary between properties, while homes on public water may have different plumbing materials or treatment concerns. Our technicians will review your water test results, water source, plumbing, and household needs before recommending equipment.
